This week I am showcasing Allens canned food products and will be revealing some of my own tips and recipes using their products. With school starting up soon (perhaps it’s already started for you?) we all need quick and easy meal ideas that are nutritious as well as delicious. Look forward to Back to School recipes all week long courtesy of Screwed Up Texan and Allens!
(Which reminds me…I need to figure out what day school starts around here.)
This week I will be featuring the following Allens canned foods:
I have to admit, I have never been a fan of Veg-All even though we had it almost every week as a child. I hated beans (canned or not) as a kid and grew to love them later on in life. The same goes for several other vegetables, but Veg-All has never been one of those. This week I found a way to use it in a recipe that actually makes it edible. Those who hate Veg-All (and lima beans) REJOICE! I’ve got something that even you will eat.
Chili Beans in Sauce.
Just wait until you try the barracho bean soup I created using these goodies! Extremely quick and easy meal idea!
Butterfield Shoestring Potato Sticks.
Original Baked Beans.
Whether straight out of the can as a side dish or dressed up, baked beans are a classic American favorite (and typical Texan BBQ side dish).
Cut Italian Green Beans.
So I have this story about when I was about five years old and didn’t want to eat my green beans so I stashed them in my shorts and tried to sneak off from the dinner table to “go to the bathroom” and left a trail of green beans across our trailer that my parents followed. Yep, me trying to flush my beans down the commode didn’t work. And you won’t have to follow green bean trails your kids leave behind once you make the recipe I have in store!
Cut Sweet Potatoes.
A Southern diet is not complete without these. Nor should sweet potatoes be reserved for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. I’ll be bringing you a recipe that’s not only packed in nutrients such as vitamin A, but also loaded with wholesome yumminess! You’re gonna want to stayed tuned for this recipe!
Disclosure: Allens sent me these canned food products for FREE in exchange for a review. As always, all opinions are my own.
